The charger has a 5-meter cable with a type-2 plug which is the most common charging plug for both plug-in hybrid and electric cars in Europe. Customers can control the functions of the charger through a free app available on both Apple and Android devices. Functions include starting or stopping charging sessions as well as setting time intervals for when to start or stop charging sessions. Installers have access to an advanced app that allows them to set more complex settings such as permanent limitations on maximum power output from the charger.The charger also includes an RFID reader which allows users to authorize themselves using an RFID card. Multiple cards can be linked to one single unit or used across multiple units within a network.Communication with the unit is possible via Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections allowing users access information about their chargers through their browser when connected via ABB AC-cloud over the internet.The maximum charge rate of this unit is at 11 kW/16 A at 415 V meaning that it takes approximately four hours for an electric car with a battery capacity of around forty kWh if it supports this level of charging power output (note: always check your car's specifications). The built-in detection system automatically deactivates if DC fault currents exceed six mA so there are no requirements for Type B-RCDs but only Type-A RCDs are needed instead.
