Yakuza Kiwami Event Exclusive - Nintendo Switch - Kampsport
In 2005, a legend was born on PlayStation 2 - the legend of Kazuma Kiryu, the Dragon of Dojima, in his video game debut with Yakuza. Now, 11 years after its release, a new generation of gamers will be able to experience the unparalleled action and drama of the Yakuza series with the remastered HD remake exclusively for PlayStation 4, Yakuza Kiwami.
"Kiwami" means extreme, and the game embraces that concept. It's not an HD remaster or a refresh of PS2-era textures. Yakuza Kiwami was recreated from the ground up exclusively for PlayStation 4. That means every visual element has been optimized for the 1080p/60fps environment, every line of the script has been re-recorded by the series' actors, and for the first time in the West, players will be able to hear the original Japanese language track.
And then there's the game itself! The PS2-era brawling gameplay is refined for the current generation, as Kazuma Kiryu fights his way through the ranks of the Yakuza and ends up protecting a young girl whose aunt (who also happens to be Kiryu's childhood sweetheart) has disappeared... along with 10 billion yen.
• RETURN TO THE ROOTS OF THE YAKUZA SERIES: Kiwami adds nearly 30 minutes of cutscenes that provide a whole new look at the game's plot. Distractions (Pocket Circuit car racing, MesuKing: Battle Bug Beauties, new hostesses, and more), side missions, and combat updates have also been added to bring the original Yakuza game into the latest console generation.
• MAJIMA EVERYWHERE: New to Kiwami is the “Majima Everywhere” system, where the series’ deranged, one-eyed maniac will constantly surprise and challenge Kiryu to battle when he least expects it. We’re talking “pops out of a silly costume” level of surprise, so players will need to be on their toes and ready to defend themselves against Kiryu’s greatest rival.
• EXTREME REVITALIZATION: Kiwami has been rebuilt from the ground up with all-new HD assets, exclusive Japanese voice acting re-recorded by the series’ actors, and more; optimized for PlayStation 4 and running at 1080p/60fps. And in keeping with SEGA’s commitment to the Yakuza franchise, the game will be released in both physical and digital formats in the West.
