Gianni Versace is an Italian fashion company and brand founded by Gianni Versace in 1978. The first Versace store was opened in Milan in 1978 and immediately became popular. Gianni Versace was killed by Andrew Cunanan on 15 July 1997. His sister, Donatella Versace, then took over as creative director of Versace, and his older brother Santo Versace became CEO. Donatella's daughter Allegra Versace also owns 50 percent of the company since 2004 as requested by Gianni in his last will. Allegra also has the final say on sales and other important details of the Versace clothing line. The fragrance was launched in 2008 and was developed by Alberto Morillas.
