Ligretto Junior has the same gameplay as Ligretto – with players trying to empty their stack of cards as quickly as possible by playing the cards on stacks in the center of the table – but with only three rows of cards in each player's pile (as opposed to four suits in the normal Ligretto tires).

As a result, Ligretto Junior allows up to five players in a game instead of just four; What's more, while Ligretto Junior cannot be combined with other Ligretto games to allow multiple players to compete at the same time, it can be combined with different versions of itself, often themed around a different series of cartoon characters.
